The storied Boston Marathon is coming up once again. Whether you will be part of this great race or are just cheering on a race participant, there are lots of things to do in Boston surrounding the excitement of race weekend. Try one or try a few for a great trip.
Things to Do in Boston on Marathon Weekend
Friday and Saturday
On Friday, April 14, plan to pick up your race number at John B. Hynes Convention Center. Devote the rest of the day to sight-seeing (try the Liberty Bell, Boston Harbor, or Boston Public Garden) and rest up for races on Saturday!
Saturday’s races include the B.A.A. 5k, the B.A.A. Invitational Mile, and the B.A.A. Relay Challenge. Round out the day by attending the premiere of BOSTON, a race documentary, at 8 p.m. at Boch Center Wang Theater.
Sunday Boston Events
Pick up your marathon number on Sunday, then attend the Pre-Race Dinner at 4 p.m. at City Hall Plaza.
ill up the rest of the day with Boston attractions like the Mohawk Trail or Heritage Museum and Gardens. Visit local breweries like Harpoon Brewery and Cape Cod Beer, or head to one of the many outlet malls for a little shopping.
It’s the big day! The big marathon will begin in waves, with the first at 8:50 a.m. The race will end at Fenway Park with the Official Post Race Party. Make sure you attend and celebrate your accomplishment!
